Beer Battered Jalapeño Poppers
Deep fried goodness…
1 can La Morena Cheese Stuffed Jalapeños 380g
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 bottle of dark beer (plus or minus)
salt and pepper to season
sunflower oil to fill 2-inch high in deep frying pan or wok


Drain jalapeños over a bowl and save all of the sauce
Sift 1 cup flour, salt and pepper and then whisk in beer until paste is slightly runny. Add a bit more beer if necessary, as consistency can vary depending on brand of flour.
Heat oil until slightly smoking. Test heat by dropping in a small dollop of batter. It should sizzle and turn golden brown.
In a small bowl, mix other cup of flour with salt and pepper and coat the jalapeños. Then dip into paste and gently drop into hot oil. Cook until golden brown and then place onto paper towels to drain.
Serve with the sauce drained off of the jalapeños. Have with a cold beer! Makes about 6
